How to easily migrate your existing podcast from Blubrry to Spreaker

Updated over a year ago

Switching an existing podcast from another hosting platform to Spreaker consists of two steps:

1 - Moving your old episodes to Spreaker by using the RSS importer. If episodes are already hosted on another podcasting platform, it is possible to move episodes via the RSS importing function. You simply need to copy and paste the RSS feed URL from your current hosting platform into the Spreaker RSS importer page.

2 - Forwarding your old RSS feed to the new Spreaker one. Once the importing is done, all of your episodes will be available to Spreaker’s community and can be distributed with the new Spreaker RSS feed. If your podcast is already available on platforms such as iTunes with your previous hosting and you don’t want to submit it again, it is possible to enable a redirection so you can keep your subscribers.

How to move your podcast from Blubrry

If you're hosting your podcast on Blubrry, without using the Powerpress plugin on your website, this is how to get your RSS feed URL:

1 - Log into your Blubrry account and open the Podcaster's Dashboard.
2 - Click "View feed in a new window" under the "Podcast Feed" section and copy the Feed URL. Leave the browser tab open as we’ll need the Dashboard later.

3 - Once done, log into your Spreaker account or create a new one.
4 - Go to the Import Episodes section. Paste the RSS feed copied from Blubrry into the corresponding box and choose - or create - the podcast where your episodes will be uploaded in step two.

Finally, you'll get in the RSS Importing customization page where you can uncheck the “Import new episodes automatically” box and save.

5 - Once episodes are saved on Spreaker, you can redirect your Blubrry's old RSS Feed.

You can find your new Spreaker RSS feed by accessing the RSS Settings tab of your podcast, on the Content Management System (CMS): www.spreaker.com/cms/shows

6 - Now, go back to Blubrry’s Dashboard and click “Podcast Settings” under the Podcast Feed section.

7 - Finally, scroll the page until you get to the “Feed Settings” section. You can paste the Spreaker Feed in the “Alternative Feed URL” field and save.

8 - Once set, click the link to your old Blubrry feed. Do you get redirected to the new one on Spreaker? If so, you're done!

Now just wait for about two weeks: this way you can make sure all the podcatching platforms will update the RSS Feed. Then you can also delete your account and feed on Blubrry.

Please note: If you are using the PowerPress Plugin and hosting your Podcast on your Wordpress website, please take a look at this tutorial.
