Podcast distribution to iTunes, Stitcher, Google, and other RSS-catching platforms

Add your show to different podcatching platforms to get extra distribution for your show, like iTunes, Stitcher, and Google Play Music; every time you publish something new on Spreaker, it will also get automatically published to those networks.

FINDING SHOW'S RSS FEED AND SUBMITTING TO iTUNES

  • Go to your show's page.
  • Find the orange RSS feed icon at the top of your episode list (to the right of the EMBED button).
  • Right-click on the RSS feed icon and copy the URL address.

You can also get the RSS feed through the CMS. Select your show from the CMS, click on Edit, and then right-click on the button at the top that says RSS Feed. Then copy the URL address.

You’ll then be able to paste this URL into the various podcatchers available. For example, here’s how to get your podcast up in the iTunes Store via iTunes Connect:

  • Log in to https://podcastsconnect.apple.com using your iTunes Store account credentials (it's the same account you log in to when downloading new apps from the App Store).
  • Once you're logged in, you'll be taken to the podcast submit page: https://podcastsconnect.apple.com/#/new-feed/
  • From there, paste the RSS feed link you had copied from Spreaker and then click Validate. If validation fails, go back to your Spreaker show page and edit any of the failed fields (for example, you can go to your show's page and click on Edit to change the image, description, title, etc.) and then try validating it again. More info on that can be found here. Once validation goes through, click the Submit button.

If you still have questions on iTunes' process, you can read their Help page on the Apple website, Podcasts Connect Help.

CUSTOMIZING RSS AND SUBMITTING TO GOOGLE, STITCHER, TUNEIN

Now, you’ll notice that all the information that you plugged into your Spreaker profile and Spreaker show page will appear in iTunes. That’s because the RSS feed essentially pulls all of the episode’s metadata (title, description, images, etc.) from Spreaker and places it on the podcatcher’s page.

While this happens automatically, you do have the ability to customize that metadata further than what the regular episode page shows. Users that have upgraded to any Pro plan will be able to change that information. To do so, from your profile page, click on the Shows tab. From there, click on the edit button at the right of your show. You can do it from the Spreaker Content Management System (CMS).

Note: If you don’t know exactly how to customize your show’s feed, please read this complete tutorial: Spreaker podcast’s feed and how to customize RSS.

Customizing your RSS feed is essential if your want to submit your podcast to Google Play, as Google wants your email to appear in the RSS Feed under the <googleplay:email> tag. Read the article linked above if you want to know how to do this.

When your RSS feed is ready for submission you can go to this page, click the “Get Started” button, and login with your Google credentials. Once done, just click the “add a podcast” option and follow the steps provided.

You can submit your podcast’s RSS feed to Stitcher from this page.

It’s also possible to get your show up on TuneIn, though they require a slightly different feed from the ones available (especially if you’re planning on having your live show streamed there, too). Just plug in the feed URLs you find here, according to which episode or show you want to share. For more information on TuneIn, check our their site.
