Conversion rates on currency is something that can seem to be ever fluctuating from country to country. Payments submitted to hosts for the Spreaker Live Reads Program are currently only in US Dollars and will be distributed to PayPal this way. This can cause some confusion among users as to why their payments seem different than what their accounts shows on the Spreaker agreement versus their payments received on PayPal.

With the payments made to hosts to PayPal, they do take care of the logistics of conversions, along with any other fees that may happen for the conversion. Below is some helpful information on what occurs.

  • PayPal receives a wholesale rate quote from their bank twice a day and add a percentage to determine the retail foreign exchange rate to apply to transactions that involve a currency conversion.

  • PayPal's currency exchange rates are competitive with conversion rates used by banks and by currency exchanges.

  • When you transfer from your PayPal account to your local bank account, PayPal automatically convert the money into the local currency when the transfer is initiated.

PayPal does have a currency calculator that will show the conversions and any applicable fees that you may encounter if you visit their help center here.
